THE PHILIPS FAMILY

THE PHILIPS FAMILY FROM GALIZIEN, BUKOWINA & LOTHRINGEN

The Philips family comes originally from Zilling in Lothringen (Lorraine, France) and next in 1784 they came to Galizien (then Austria, next Poland, today Ukraine) and are connected with such places in Galizien like Ugartsthal (Siwka by Kalusz https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugartsthal), Kalusz, Knihinin (district of Stanislawow), Stanislawow (Stanislau, Ivano-Frankovsk), Lisko by Kamionka Strumilowa, Liczkowce by Kopyczynce. With theses place in Galizien are connected the Bartoszewski, Grocholski and Wronowski families.
A part of the family emigrated from Ugartsthal to Bukowina (Alexanderdorf and Katharinendorf).
The Frackowiak (Frackowiak) and Leczykiewicz families are connected again with West Poland (Wielkopolska)and such places like Groñsko and Bolewice by Lwowek or Pniewy - Nowy Tomysl, Kobylin, Krotoszyn. The Frackowiak emigrated also to Germany and France.
A branch of the family emigrated in 1840 from Galizien to Canada and lives today in Langenburg, Yorkton, Churchbridge, Landestrew, Saskatoon in Saskatchewan. Another branch of the family emigrated in 1836 from Zilling (Lorraine, France) also to Canada and was settled in Rainham Town, Haldiman Co., Ontario. These Philips from Ontario are also connected with Sitter, Reichheld and other families.
After 1940 some Philipps from Galizien were resettled to Germany and live today in Jena, East Germany). The others came after 1949 to Canada.
The Canadian members of the family use Phillips as their name, some French members use Phillipps. The German and Lorrainian members use Philipps.
The Austrian family from Bozen (Bolzano) when this place became a part of Italy, emigrated to Argentina Kataryniuk (Katryniuk). Some of them still live in Italy.
